고려대학교에서 미디어를 전공으로 학사, 석사, 박사학위를 취득했다. 고려대 부임 전에는 산학(네이버 Agenda Research, 인디애나대 커뮤니케이션연구소, 국립부경대 휴먼ICT융합전공) 경험을 쌓았다. 방송영상, 게임, 스타트업 분야 다수 위원회에서 활동하고 있다.

네이버에서의 경험은 자연스레 웹툰 창착자와 소상공인에 대한 관심으로 이어졌다. 기술이 인간과 사회, 산업에 미치는 영향에 관심이 많다. 최근에는 AI와 엔터테인먼트 산업, 스타트업 생태계에 관심을 갖고 연구하고 있다.
