The 13th Honours Symposium for Asian Graduate Students in Communication Research

26-27 April 2025

Hosted by

Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

In cooperation with the City University of Hong Kong, Korea University, Yonsei University, and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University (WKWSCI, NTU) Singapore invites submissions for the 13th Honours Symposium for Asian Graduate Students in Communication Research, which will be held on 26-27 April 2025 in Singapore.

This International Symposium is designed to enhance scholarly dialogue and intellectual exchange among graduate students and encourage research collaboration at the institutional level among the five participating universities. The Honours Symposium represents a focused institutional vision and cross-national efforts to foster academic collaboration and enhance understanding of methodologies and theories in communication research among young Asian scholars.

The Symposium invites full paper submissions from all graduate students (both Master's and PhD students) on general communication topics, using any theoretical or methodological approaches within or outside the Asian context. There are two phases in the submission process. In the first phase, graduate students from the five partner universities will submit manuscripts to their university's Graduate/PhD Program Director. In the second phase, each university will select its student papers for presentation and send the selected papers to WKWSCI, NTU. The full papers should be no more than 8,000 words, not including the title, abstract, tables, figures, and references. The manuscripts should be written in English and prepared in the APA-7 style.

As the host of the Symposium, the WKWSCI, NTU will provide accommodation and meals for all participants, including faculty members from the participating institutions, based on the principles of economy and reciprocity. The participating universities are responsible for transportation and other related expenses to and from the Symposium venue. Each university is expected to send four students and one or two faculty member(s) to attend the Symposium.

Submission Guidelines

  • The Symposium only accepts full-paper submissions. Work-in-progress may be submitted, but all sections (e.g., methods, results, discussion) must be included.

  • The Symposium only accepts student-led submissions. Faculty members may be listed as co-authors, but the student must be the lead author.

  • Work submitted to another conference may be submitted to the Symposium.

Important Dates

There are two phases in the submission process:

  • The first phase submission deadline: 21 February 2025

  • The second phase submission deadline (each university will submit the selected full papers to WKWSCI, NTU): 14 March 2025
